During a challenge from the rival Flame Clan, a young woman insists she can fight, but her father and others dismiss her as a woman who would shame the family. The woman then defiantly steps forward, begging her father for permission to enter the duel to save House Severus's honor and to bargain for another woman named Callista's life. Her father accuses her of threatening him and implying he is useless. Meanwhile, the Clan's leader mocks the family's weakness. As the clan's fighter prepares to attack the family's elder, the woman makes a desperate final plea to her father to let her fight in their place.
