After five years of hard work, Carl returns home to surprise his wife Leila, only to find her with his boss, Cooper. Cooper belittles Carl, calling him a 'wage slave,' and reveals that Carl's own son is actually his. Enraged, Carl punches Cooper, who retaliates by reminding Carl he owes him his job. Leila coldly dismisses Carl, telling him to take his celebration cake and leave, leaving him betrayed and ousted from his own home.
