At a tense family dinner Mr. Turner (Jeremy) lies injured and others accuse William of running him over and spilling wine. May, who says she once chose him, humiliates William for being petty and refusing to admit faults. To stop the argument she says, "If William says I spilled the wine, then I did," and takes the blame. But she then forces William to apologize to Jeremy and issues an ultimatum: she won't sign the asset transfer unless he kneels and apologizes. William refuses to concede and openly questions transferring his assets, leaving May's demand and the inheritance decision unresolved.
