Mag shocks friends by saying 'I'm going to marry him' and demands they call it off, resisting objections that it's a lifelong decision. People warn that Sean wouldn't want her held back, but Mag insists Sean has always protected her and that she wants to stay by his side as his wife. Later, Roy, recently treated for a perforated stomach, drinks despite warnings and is urged to stop for his health. He sinks into despair, says life is pointless without Maggy and threatens to die, leaving his safety and Mag's decision in immediate jeopardy.
