Josie, daughter of Chief Commander Choi, married Gordon Hodges of the Snoylor tribe in a ceremonial union with no legal papers. Gordon left for the military soon after; Josie learned of her pregnancy by letter. Seven years later, their son Freddie begs to meet his father. Josie brings him to the camp and finds Gordon remarried. Branded a 'homewrecker,' she and Freddie are beaten. In panic Josie cries out for her father; his men rush them to the hospital while he seeks the Commander. At the hospital, Gordon’s new wife Claire feigns labor; Gordon, cold and enraged, pulls the doctor away. Freddie dies on the operating table. When Josie’s parents arrive, Gordon and Claire are jailed. Gordon escapes and, in a final act of fury, shoots Claire’s mother Marsha.

Scene pacing sometimes hurries through trauma. More quiet aftermath would deepen the stakes.

Gordon's coldness makes him a terrible lead. Josie deserves a stronger redemption arc.

I felt Josie's panic when she shouted her father's name. Hospital rush scenes gripped me hard.
