During a New Year's visit to her husband Chester's family home, Selma is warmly greeted by his childhood friend Shirley, who insists on cooking for her. Shirley, having already been told Selma is allergic to scallions, later reveals she has ground them into the soup. In a flashback, Selma recalls her past life where this act landed her in the hospital, with Chester's family dismissing her concerns. Now, as Shirley questions Selma's sudden claim of a ginger allergy, Selma deliberately alters her request, setting a trap to expose the family's hypocrisy and begin her revenge.
002
During a family New Year's dinner, Selma, who is allergic to ginger, protests that all the dishes contain it despite her request. Her in-laws and a woman named Shirley dismiss her concerns, pressuring her to conform. Shirley then serves Selma a special chicken soup she spent hours preparing. Under continued pressure from the family, Selma reluctantly drinks the soup. After she finishes, Shirley reveals she ground ginger powder into it, leaving Selma shocked and betrayed.
003
Shirley adds ginger to chicken soup despite being told not to, triggering a severe allergic reaction in Chester. While initially blaming Chester's wife, Selma, for being picky, the family panics when Chester collapses, revealing his allergy. Shirley claims ignorance, but Selma confronts the parents' hypocrisy, recalling their past dismissal of her own allergy. Chester stabilizes and defends Shirley, agreeing she will cover his medical bills. His parents remain furious, hinting at another troubling surprise Shirley has in store for him after his recovery.

The episode opens with a woman confronting her husband, Chester, after discovering he secretly borrowed a large sum, needing it to save face for a family New Year's visit. Meanwhile, the woman's friend, Shirley, helps pack for a hospital discharge, feeling guilty for causing Chester's allergy. The wife stresses that a specific folder contains vital documents. In a moment of reflection, the wife recalls how Shirley destroyed a million-dollar contract in a past life, for which she was asked to forgive. Now, as she faces Chester's new debt, she wonders who will be asked for forgiveness this time.
005
A woman named Chester's mother boasts about her expensive coat and gold chain, bought by her son. She then pointedly asks Chester, who works at a big company, why he only brought cheap fruit for the New Year. Another guest suggests cash is the best gift and directly asks Chester how much he gave. Under mounting pressure from the group's pointed comparisons and questions, Chester's mother defends her son's high salary. The episode ends with Chester quietly revealing he gave his parents 500,000, a sum that silences the room.

His wife supports the idea, but her family is skeptical and demands to see the cash, pressuring him to prove it. He confidently leaves to retrieve the money. However, once out of sight, he cannot find it and urgently asks another person, Shirley, where she placed the folder containing the money, revealing the promise may be harder to keep.
007
Shirley accidentally burns a folder while starting a fire, sparking Selma's immediate anger over its lost contents. Chester defends Shirley, dismissing Selma's concerns as petty and blaming her for not storing the items safely.
