Zack's departure sparks uproar as five senior disciples—Mindy, Jeri, Ariel, Laura and Lily—demand Mr. Gatsby explain why he let Zack marry an outsider. Gatsby rebukes them, reveals Zack harbors a dangerous, uncontrollable evil, and says only the Bell family's reserved but kind woman can be with him and help him ascend. He arranges new identities and power for the five so they can watch over Zack and prevent his wife from bullying him. Zack reaches the city, bewildered and searching for his bride, when someone suddenly threatens, 'I'll gouge your eyes out,' leaving his fate uncertain.
