He reacts with immediate disgust, threatening instant retirement. Later, he confronts Julian on the ice, accusing him of using his family's wealth to force the partnership and of secretly studying his failures. Convinced this is a deliberate scheme to ruin his career, he demands to know if Julian will only be satisfied when he's been used as a stepping stone.

A woman confronts a man, furious that he physically struck Julian, a fellow athlete, right before a competition, jeopardizing Julian's commercial value. The man defends himself, claiming Julian was playing mind games on purpose. The woman, yelling 'Get out!' and 'Are you crazy?!', demands to know how he will make it up to her. He dismissively tells her to let go. Watching from nearby, another person finds the situation 'Interesting.', setting up a tense and unresolved conflict.

To solve their poor on-ice cooperation, a coach forces two rival figure skaters into a drastic measure: for two weeks, they must wear a 'sync training belt' linking them together during all training sessions, with removal meaning immediate disqualification and loss of funding. One skater, reluctantly complying, tells the other not to worry about losing. Their forced proximity immediately causes friction, with one angrily questioning the other's actions and demanding they stop. When training ends and one demands to unclip the belt, the other refuses, citing the coach's strict rule. The episode ends with one skater acknowledging their literal connection, noting that at least this time, the other cannot escape.

Relieved not to have sync belt training with her partner Julian, a young woman is warned by a man who knows them both. He reveals he found a notebook in Julian's room filled with detailed analyses of opponents' weaknesses, including hers. The man clarifies that Julian only views relationships through the lens of winning and losing, and bluntly tells her she is merely a stepping stone for Julian's return to the singles World Championships. Angered, she confronts Julian, accusing him of taking pleasure in her failures. Julian denies wanting to defeat her, hinting his true intentions are something else entirely.
