At dinner Nathan's family decides Lucas isn't their only bargaining chip and names Nathan as the match for a wealthy heiress. His mother and relatives deride him, saying he's lived off the family and must finally contribute by marrying to remove an eyesore. They announce plans to get rid of Judy and march to Nathan's place to force the arrangement. They burst in shouting, "Nathan! Get out here right now!" and cut him off, leaving whether he will accept the imposed marriage unresolved.
