A broke student is cornered by several women who accuse her of being sent by Faye to steal Mr. Duvall. They taunt her with Ms. Adams’ deadly reputation — "she was wrecked; her womb even came out" — and mock that the police or Mr. Duvall won't help. They jeer, suggest she "keep us company tonight," and one attacker says, "This is exactly what I wanted." A countdown precedes a violent confrontation; someone yells "Mr. Duvall!" and "Ms. Adams hit me!" Another asks, "New act? Fake blood?" leaving the attack's reality unresolved.
