After selling goods for five taels, a father tells Yolanda he and Zack will buy household supplies while Yolanda stays with Yale. He leaves the money with Yale for medicine, but a man at the market who broke his back and paid for a doctor insists on reclaiming funds, raising pressure. Vendors hawk candied hawthorns and a child wants one, tempting the savings. Someone admits they used up their healing power yesterday and cannot cure Yale's legs now.
