While showering together, Ethan panics when their coach might see them, fearing it will ruin his chances with Amy. His teammate Lucas exploits the situation, demanding Ethan beg for help. Ethan defiantly refuses, but when the coach arrives looking for Ethan, Lucas covers for him, telling the coach he's not there. Later, the coach summons them both, revealing the media calls them 'oil and water' and that sponsors are nervous. To force them to get along, he imposes a strict 'icebreaker' plan: they must hold hands while working, endure a twelve-hour simulator session together, and cohabitate for an entire month, leaving the furious rivals facing an imposed partnership.
