Punish the Wicked, Reclaim My Throne - Episode 1

001

Thrown into an ancient army as cannon fodder, a top-tier assassin awakens among Northguard recruits while villagers beg officers to spare a young man. An arrogant corporal seizes control, demands obedience, forces kneeling and humiliations (a color test, shoe-licking) and threatens the men with the front. When one recruit resists, the corporal moves to punish him; the assassin intervenes and kills the corporal with lethal skill. The camp erupts as "Kill-to-Grow System activated" announces a level-up and stat gains for the Host, leaving the camp unsettled and eyes turning toward him.

An execution scene opens with terrified captives begging "Mercy! Spare us!" Then we cut to a gang hideout where a Boss and his men snack on saved buns and boast, until a prisoner is discovered with wounds that contradict the claim he bashed his head on a wall. Officers press for answers and remove the body. At city command, the General learns the walls are patched but the Nomads' siege engines still threaten the city. With frontline casualties high, commanders propose a Forlorn Hope; the General orders death-row inmates sent on the suicide mission to burn the engines, sending them to the death row.

On a forced labor yard, overseers brutalize workers and single out a defiant man, Dean. Toby Carter, introduced as an Acquired Realm master with low stats, refuses to kneel and is mocked. The boss orders him beaten, even killed, but Toby interrupts, saying he'll handle it himself and reminding them he used to be a Sergeant. He then prepares a devastating technique, declaring Golden Armor Art and a nine-horse punch. The crowd braces as Toby advances with the move, and the episode closes with the strike's result left unresolved.

General Yeats arrives for reinforcements and abruptly halts the sentence, declaring, "This man... belongs to me now." His claim stops the execution and leaves the killer's fate—and Yeats' purpose—unresolved.

Smoke rises from a Nomad camp as a Northguard strike team returns: they infiltrated disguised, burned the Nomads' siege engines, and General Yeats publicly pardons and promotes former convict Dean Johnson for the deed. The victory is short-lived: commanders report Southerners burned the Northguard's siege engines and decide they must lure the enemy into open battle. They announce a grain convoy through Moonlit Canyon as bait, explicitly singling out "that rat from today" and warning, "he's not making it back alive." Dean's redemption is celebrated, but he's been marked as the convoy's target.
