Mason Stanford is convicted of intentional homicide and sentenced to death, and courtroom chaos erupts when Julia’s testimony sparks accusations that she lied and framed him. After the verdict Mason is seized by Robert and Mr. Jasper’s men; they torment him, force him to watch and threaten to imprison his father. Scenes cut to a protective father-son promise about safety, then reveal Edward Murray deliberately stages an armed bank robbery to get 25 years. He intends to be placed in the same cell to rescue Mason, closing with Edward: "My son, I'm coming to save you."

Inside Bridgewell Prison the episode opens with Mason being beaten by other inmates for defying a powerful prisoner. A nearby man intervenes, warns the attackers off and spares Mason. In a stunned cell reunion the newcomer reveals himself as Mason’s father, saying he came in on his own rather than being sent. He confesses a lifetime of cowardice and vows to finally act. The episode closes with his decisive announcement, "We are breaking out."

They're trapped in Ashford's most secure prison after Mason learns his father has seven days until execution. When Mason says escape is impossible, his father reveals a tattoo: the prison's structural blueprint. He confesses he designed the prison twenty years ago before being blacklisted, so he knows the drainage, power, and surveillance layouts and which walls are hollow. Mason panics; the father urges, "Mason, trust me." The revelation flips their hopelessness into a risky plan. With the blueprint on his skin and time running out, they must exploit those weaknesses before execution.

After a terse exchange—"Break out in seven days"—a man asks someone to cover for him while another person angrily addresses "Dad." In a crowded mess hall a spilled pot scalds a worker’s arm; he begs an officer for treatment but is shoved aside and threatened with a gun. Staff force others to sit and eat while an older man apologizes for a reflexive reaction. At a security checkpoint the metal detector suddenly alarms and guards order a search. The episode ends as the urgent search begins, leaving the planned breakout in immediate jeopardy.

Inside a cramped cell with six days left, a father and others frantically try to dig an escape tunnel while complaining the tool "can't even scrape the wall." Their plan collapses when Dave, a feared mob inmate, returns; fellow prisoners warn that "he'll either snitch or kill us both" if he learns about the escape. A newcomer, Edward, meets Dave, admits stealing and asks, "Not afraid of death?" He then confirms, "We're planning to use it to break out." With Dave watching, the group must gamble on Edward's boldness as exposure looms.

Dave is sitting in prison when his wife and Harry visit to gloat: they announce their upcoming marriage in three days and that she is pregnant with Harry's child. They reveal Dave was set up and mock the photo of his six-year-old daughter Tina, informing him Tina has late-stage leukemia and lacks treatment so she may die, which would remove any claim on Dave's fortune. A guard warns he’ll report the exchange. Betrayed and furious, Dave confronts them, ending the visit by shouting, "I won't let you two off!"

A father and his child argue over a risky plan: the child urges stopping with only six days left, but the father insists Dave won't tell and pushes forward. They carry out the operation; Mason declares it worked and orders everyone to clean up, while helpers scramble to hide traces. Their supposed victim, however, survives and snarls, "You're not dead yet? Darn you!", forcing immediate panic. An old man at the scene looks familiar, and that recognition leaves the group's next move unresolved.

Inside a secure facility a hasty breakout begins to save Mason, who faces execution in six days. Edwin Stanford reveals himself as Mason’s father while the group forces a gate, fights through a chaotic dining area, and scavenges two spoons plus vinegar, salt and hydrogen peroxide from the kitchen and infirmary. They find a pipe that leads into a tunnel and plan for Mason to keep watch while someone stays in bed as a decoy between 60–90 minute guard patrols. Just as they prepare to move deeper, someone shouts, "They're here," leaving the escape exposed.

Tonight a three-person team—the prison’s designer (called 'Dad' by someone present), Dave, and Mason—launches a high-risk operation to use an internal access tunnel the designer created. He warns one wrong step will mean death. Dave will follow him into the tunnel while Mason keeps watch for guards. At the target spot the designer has them scrape rust and explains contractors used cheap scrap metal in the pipes. He mixes salt, vinegar and hydrogen peroxide and applies it; the chemicals will eat through the metal in hours. They apply the mixture and must now wait for the result.

Late at night, several people prepare to smash a single protective layer inside a guarded room but argue about timing because guards and dummy figures on the bed could give them away. They decide to wait for a passing train at 10:08 p.m. to mask the sound. As the train arrives they count down—three, two, one—and smash the layer. After a tense pause one voice says, "Enough." Then someone adds, "It worked." They break through, but whether the noise or the dummies will still alert the guards remains unresolved.
