Serena is approached by Deacon Lowe, the sole heir of Lowe Group, who offers marriage and the title 'future chairman's wife.' She refuses, and a group of men immediately abduct her in broad daylight. Bystanders search and report she was talking to Mr. Lowe moments earlier. As the kidnappers flee, one car driver notices a wheelchair inexplicably pursuing them. The gang argues about hitting it but resolves to run it down. With shouts — "He won't make it this time!" — the car accelerates toward the wheelchair, leaving Serena's rescue and the pursuer's fate unresolved.
