A woman excitedly shares with a friend that she got a job as a salesgirl, which includes housing. Soon after, men from an agency confront her, suspecting her of being a Soviet spy based on discrepancies in her identification and demanding she come with them. She fiercely denies the accusation and protests as they take her papers. The shop owner intervenes, and when the men explain they suspect his maid, he claims she is not the maid but his fiancée, creating a sudden and protective cover for her.
