Lydia is confronted by Mr. Frost, who insults her as a schemer and questions her worth; she snaps back, publicly rejecting his authority and declaring he no longer deserves to be her boss. Elsewhere, a small child threatens, "I'll starve myself," if Young Alpha fires the child's mommy and keeps them apart. Someone orders the child's meals thrown out, prompting Elder York and others to worry as the child visibly loses weight. The elders suggest letting the child meet the unnamed woman for comfort. Young Alpha first orders Lydia called back to work, then decides, "No need. I'll find her myself," leaving Lydia's fate unresolved.
