Jane Arnold is torn from her wedding, jailed, and branded a murderer for the death of Jennifer Wooten. In prison she gives birth to Bunny and buries her identity. Years later Bunny, grown, reunites with Francis Wooten, but a jealous admirer, Sonia Thompson, hounds and schemes against her. By chance Bunny meets her mother again, now living as Jean Smith. Mother and daughter unite, racing to prove Jane's innocence, and uncover evidence that Sonia is the real killer. Sonia retaliates by kidnapping Bunny and forcing Jane into impossible concessions while secretly plotting to kill them both. In a tense final confrontation Francis arrives at the last moment to save them, exposing Sonia and forcing a reckoning.

Tight plotting keeps tension high. Sonia's reveal lands convincingly. Character arcs earn their redemption.

I cried when Jane learned the truth. Her stolen wedding day broke my heart. Bunny's reunion was warm sunlight after long shadow.
