A Duchess pleads with her husband, the Duke, to spare their son, whom he declares unworthy and threatens to kill. Despite her protests, the Duke forces the boy's exile. The grieving mother sends the child away with a blessed pendant, promising to return for him. Years later, the Duchess's daughter Lena arrives home with a guest, Percy, who rescued her from Duke Brion. When the Duke offers Percy a reward, the young man reveals he is an orphan searching for his family and presents the pendant as his only clue, unknowingly setting his quest before the very man who cast him out.
