Mr. Byrne arrives and firmly denies her claim, refusing to acknowledge her. However, after a tense confrontation where she accuses him of pretending she doesn't exist and physically clings to him, he relents. He returns to the guards and, with great difficulty, finally admits that she does have a connection to him and identifies her as his mother, securing her release.
