Her child is bullied for lacking a father, so the mother secretly brings the child to the military camp to find Commander Gordon Hodges. At the gate they confirm a commander by that name, sparking hope. That hope collapses when base staff say Hodges already has a wife and declare, "everyone here witnessed their wedding." The episode ends with staff questioning her claim, leaving her assertion of marriage unresolved.
