At a celebration, Isabella is furious that her adopted sister Charlotte is marrying into the wealthy Sterling family. Isabella secretly drugs Charlotte's drink and has her taken to a secluded room. Meanwhile, a man who drank too much is also placed in the Tower Room next door. Awakening alone and drugged, Charlotte is terrified as the disoriented man stumbles into her room. Elsewhere, Isabella presents a forged breakup letter to Charlotte's fiancé, James, claiming Charlotte has run off with an ex-lover. After waking up the next day, the man, Oliver, has hazy memories of a distressed woman in the tower and realizes his mother's locket is missing. He orders his assistant to find the woman, launching a search for the missing Charlotte.
