Charlotte, a struggling single mother, comforts her son Leo and tells him about a promising job interview at the Ashford Grand Hotel. Despite her qualifications, the interviewer, aware of a past complaint against Charlotte, assigns her a low-paying cleaning position instead, questioning how she will support her child. Determined to provide for Leo, Charlotte accepts the job and begins her duties. While cleaning a seldom-used office, she inadvertently overhears the hotel's CEO, Mr. Ashford, discussing a ruthless business takeover, and he suddenly becomes aware of her presence.
