At a celebratory event, Rosie Turner announces she'll fulfill her grandmother's last wish and avenge her mother, vowing that no one — not even her future husband — can bully her. She apologizes to Guy and explains Mr. Gibson felt unworthy, agreed to be the family's matrilocal son-in-law and, embarrassed, sent a cardboard cutout to stand in while he supposedly wears the wedding dress. Guests jeer and someone shouts, "Rosie, you're dead!" The gag is cut short when Mr. Gibson unexpectedly appears in person, provoking applause and leaving Rosie and the room facing an immediate, unresolved confrontation.
