Maddison Perkins is told her uncle's son is colluding with shareholders to block her from inheriting the final ten percent. She confronts the cousin; he threatens to chase off any child she adopts, take westside land as compensation, and undermine her at the board. Mid-confrontation Maddison snaps, "Know who I am now?" Staff gossip that she plans to adopt a gullible heir and start "Operation Protect Mommy." Debate flares over whether to reveal the chosen heir to the board.
