At a Moonshadow Capital banquet, Eva and other elves mock a former champion for being a 'half-blood' who once basked in glory but is now bonded to a soot-covered blacksmith, while her companion Simon has risen to become the Lord's right-hand man. The champion, having endured their insults, declares he is leaving. Eva confronts him, asserting that her invitation and the elite gathering are not to be disrespected. She decides that since all the old competitors are present, they should 'take good care' of the fallen champion, setting a threatening tone for the night.
