When Ms. Smith is found with needles lodged in her joints, Dr. Charles struggles to extract one and almost exposes his incompetence in front of Wynne. They recognize the other needles as evidence and decide not to touch them. Instead Dr. Charles orders Lily to prepare a penicillin injection and insists Smith's vitals will normalize within five minutes, citing "the power of science." The team administers the shot and waits; Smith's immediate response is unresolved, and if she doesn't recover the man responsible could face murder charges.
