After discovering the target's files contain impossibly powerful secrets, including control of New York's power grid, an undercover operative's team orders an immediate retreat. The operative argues that leaving now would get them all killed and insists on a new plan: long-term infiltration. The team leader accuses the operative of having fallen for the target. Later, the target confronts the operative about a mysterious absence, detecting another's scent and asserting possessive control. The operative, internally conflicted about their growing attachment, agrees to stay, privately vowing to end the mission once they secure the list.
