At the Weston homecoming, Valeria paces expecting His Majesty to claim her as consort while her family boasts. Florence, a neglected wife returned from marriage, arrives in a rare silk brocade and is mocked and ordered to undress by jealous relatives trying to protect Valeria’s chance. His Majesty suddenly appears, confronts the quarrel, and announces he will take a bride. Valeria demands Florence be punished and proclaims herself fit for a crown, but the king upends expectations and names Florence Weston his sole consort, leaving the household stunned and consequences unresolved.
