In the prison infirmary, inmate Leo Keller breaks in at night to steal medicine for his injured friend Carl, whose treatment was cut off by corrupt nurses. He is caught by Adrian, the doctor in charge. Adrian allows Leo to take the medicine but asserts his own authority, claiming Leo is his to handle. Leo, however, suspects Adrian is interested in his lawyer, Natalie, and threatens him to stay away from her. Later, Leo learns from another inmate that Adrian has indeed been investigating Natalie's visits, escalating Leo's hostility and resolve.
