At a funeral, Nora is pulled into a public brawl when Finley and others try to silence her. Shouts turn violent — one person warns "I'll cut out your tongue," and another spits that the funeral "isn't big enough for the both of us." Ms. Llyod taunts Nora, who then confronts Mr. Lloyd only to be branded "the bastard child Uncle Harold left behind." Relatives accuse her of returning "now that he's dead" to claim the inheritance and point to Mr. Lloyd's worry about Oscar's family. Nora is left accused while Mr. Lloyd must decide.
