John Chandler's night starts at an upscale lounge where an old classmate presses him for a real estate chance and leaves a suite booked. Back home his roommate Joyce fusses over his late-night side jobs and startup. A phone call from his father says his mother is dying and John can't get there; after learning it's too late he murmurs, "If everything could start over..." Suddenly he's in his Riverton High dorm; classmates jeer, call him "the most ridiculous toad" and ask, "What are you performing later?" He's left in his teenage life with no answer.
