[ENG DUB] Raising a Queen at the End of the World - Episode 1

001

A conscious zombie scavenging in a ruined apartment hears a baby crying and finds six-month-old Ivy Hull, a reborn empress, fainting from hunger. He decides to raise her, searches the building at night, and recovers canned formula to feed her. Ivy awakens, recognizes the zombie's deliberate care, and accepts him as her zombie father. They move to the ninth floor and barricade it. Under a blood moon both bodies change: the narrator regains agility and discovers a mental thread to nearby zombies, learning he can command two at once but with limited range, and its scope remains unresolved.

After testing your ability to control Zombie Puppets, you load them to carry supplies to Luna Complex and leave Ivy home alone. During the blood moon Ivy wakes, information flooding her mind as she reincarnates with regained time control and newly awakened telekinesis. She struggles to use both powers, her infant body and weak mind ache, yet hopes they will strengthen and imagines defeating the Starworm Queen. Hearing a noise, she thinks her zombie dad returned and wonders if other conscious zombies can awaken. You rush back, find the cabinet untouched, and relax, but Ivy's powers leave an unsettling unknown.

After moving a cabinet, you find Ivy awake. You, who 'feel like a dad,' go to the kitchen, mix her formula with bottled water and stir while Ivy watches. She notices subtle changes: your skin is smoother and more human than the evolved zombies in her memories. Ivy recounts the terrifying variants she remembers—tank-like brutes, agile lickers, winged and elemental types—and grows hopeful you will evolve into strength rather than a threat. The episode closes on Ivy's hopeful expectation and the unresolved question of what your changing body will become.

You settle a rescued child into your ninth-floor apartment, telling her you’ve arranged two zombie guards and stacked toys and books. Ivy watches with wide eyes; she’s disappointed by subtle evolution but deeply grateful for your rescue and vows to protect you when she grows up. She explains zombies evolve by eating or by seizing special brain cores, and says she’s confident she can seize a core to help you evolve so you can speak and look human. You name her Ninette Lane, Nette, and Ivy’s risky plan to seize a core remains unresolved.

You gather supplies to keep Nette fed and choose to stay home after the blood moon. In the living room you lift a one-foot machete and, stronger from the change, practice swinging despite no training. Ivy uses the downtime to test powers: she skips time control and slowly learns telekinesis by guiding silver needles through the air. Two days pass and both of you improve. After feeding Ivy you hear a noise and see two zombies fighting outside with no food present. Their unexplained violence leaves you unsettled and ends the episode on a raw, unanswered mystery.

From a high floor you move to the fourth for a clearer view and watch two zombies clash over a white core. One Tank Zombie is muscular and can crush car doors; the other is slender with sharp claws. After a brutal fight the Tank flings the Agile zombie, breaks its spine, smashes its skull and extracts the white core. When the Tank swallows it, it roars, smashes nearby cars and other shamblers instinctively back away. Stunned, you realize the core boosts evolution and desire surges, but you can't take on Tank now—strategy is required.

After noticing the nearly empty gas tank, you form a plan while Ivy hears noises outside and senses the blood moon triggering an evolution. Ivy, former empress of the human race, begins practicing the Glazed Breath Method despite being a baby, inhaling ambient energy until her body trembles, bones harden, and her weak telekinesis strengthens. You return and cover her, thinking she’s cold; she wakes, feels your care, and experiences a father’s love for the first time. With Ivy growing stronger to protect you, you must decide how to handle that zombie once Nette is safe.

To stop a Tank Zombie absorbing core energy, you lure it into a shop rigged with gas using Puppet No. 1. The puppet provokes it with a flower, is smashed, then Puppet No. 2 ignites the tanks. The explosion burns the Tank Zombie; it collapses at the doorway. After waiting ten minutes to be sure it's dead, you break through its skull with a machete and find a red-and-white core—far more alluring than the basic white core. You pocket it and set two intact zombies as puppets to guard downstairs, leaving the core's dangerous lure as the immediate threat.

On the third floor you swallow a core that dissolves and shifts your skin toward human form, boosting strength, agility and clearing your mind. You gain control of up to five zombies, shared vision with them, and remote command within a 3,000-foot telekinetic range, improving survivability. Meanwhile baby Ivy, calling you her loving zombie dad, panics at explosions and evolved-zombie roars and fails to practice the Glazed Breath Method. She hears a door open and, relieved, smiles—since low-level zombies can't unlock doors, only you would—yet her safety against the nearby evolved creatures remains unresolved.
