At Evan's welcome party guests confront him about leaving so suddenly and openly suggest he left because of Ava. Ava sneaks to the back and says she has something to attend to, but hosts try to keep her and push drinks. Zach and others press Evan to drink on his return, but Evan insists he can't and tries to leave. Another guest also refuses and says they must go; one asks, "If I drink with you, can I leave afterwards?" As a guest rushes off, someone asks, "Who are you rushing off to meet?", leaving the reason unresolved.
