A public brawl erupts around Ms. Clark when she grabs at someone and declares, "I'm not sharing a man with anyone," demanding a forever only for them. Onlookers condemn her conduct as disrespectful because the Emperor chose her for Prince Joel. As shouts swell, General Clark intervenes and leaves the field with Ms. Clark, effectively abandoning the army. The Prince is told that desertion is a capital crime and immediately orders the troops to march back to Jinridge at once, leaving Ms. Clark's sudden departure and its legal consequences unresolved.
