Fae has just lost her home and family. Before the wedding, a man (His Highness) tells Leona he no longer loves her and insists he will marry Fae as his second wife, promising not to touch Leona. Leona rejects the proposal. Another speaker reveals Gerald is injured and cannot father children, pressing Leona to preserve the Clark name and threatening to cancel the wedding if she refuses. Leona refuses again, and Fae, cornered, snarls, "you'd better let me stab you too," leaving the marriage plan and Leona's fate unsettled.
