Dylan counts 800 bucks from his street stall and worries his parents will keep pressuring him to bring home a girlfriend or stay away. Meanwhile Lacey Thomson is harassed in public; Dylan intervenes and stops the attackers. A rival brags about Grant Group backing and offers to marry Lacey, but she refuses. Grateful and bold, Lacey declares Dylan her boyfriend, kisses him, and demands he accept despite his poverty. She then says she'll go meet his parents and marry—"consummate it tonight"—leaving Dylan stunned and the marriage choice unresolved.
