The trial opens with spectators betting on Zane and Alex, but Natalie rushes toward the cave said to hold the mindstone. She runs into a boastful prodigy who accuses her of ingratitude and orders an S-rank Sonicwolf to kill her. The beasts clash: Sonicwolf's Gale Slash and the prodigy's assaults land as Natalie's tiny flea uses Prickle Field, then multiplies and unleashes Venom. The flea suddenly grows, leeching lifeblood from Sonicwolf and surprising both sides. With Sonicwolf weakened and the fight unresolved, Natalie's chance to reach the mindstone and her survival hang in the balance.
