A man named Damon is threatened to leave a palace or die. A woman there tends to his wound, offering medicine he distrusts due to the palace's role in burning his kingdom. Despite his suspicion, he trusts her not to harm him. He takes the medicine, but it is poisoned and he begins to fade. The woman denies poisoning him, but he calls her a liar as he falls critically ill. She orders the palace sealed and demands an antidote for the bloodborne venom. A healer reveals there is no antidote, and she insists one be made before Damon dies by dawn.
