A physicist wakes in hospital to learn his arm was amputated. He worries about precise work and his boyfriend; the doctor promises modern prosthetics, says the boyfriend's wounds are minor, and agrees not to tell him the patient saved him, creating a private burden. Later a family argument accuses someone of chasing the Belle inheritance and offers to send that person abroad.
