Zeus presents Hera with a newborn child, one of his many illegitimate offspring, and demands she raise it as her own. He dismisses her infertility and asserts her duties as both a woman and the Queen of Gods. Hera refuses, calling the child a bastard and declaring she has had enough. She shocks Zeus by demanding a divorce, rejecting the power and status he gave her. Hera renounces her role, leaving Zeus with his throne as she vows to protect the last vestige of pure love for herself.
