Ariana and her mother arrive at the lavish Black family home as guests. Her mother is overawed by the wealth, but Damien Black, the son of the house, coldly corrects her that his own mother is dead. At dinner, Damien's father, Brian Black, formally welcomes them as family and instructs Damien to look after Ariana. Brian then declares that Ariana will start working as Damien's personal secretary tomorrow, a surprising order that leaves Ariana shocked and speechless.
