A man carries a woman into their home late at night, ignoring her protests to be put down. He dismisses her concern about waking the family, claiming she should not have to worry about their opinions anymore and bluntly offers her the position of 'lady of this house.' She angrily rejects him, accusing him of making her wait and then being with another woman. When he suggests she is jealous, she defiantly denies it, but he challenges her self-deception. Their volatile confrontation is suddenly interrupted when a third person calls her name from the doorway, leaving her and the man exposed.
