During a banquet, Cassian accidentally burns Lord Kaiser's clothes with magic, leaving him naked in public. Outraged, Kaiser breaks off his engagement to Cassian's family, and the Ministry of Magic threatens to shut down their potion business. Cassian's father, desperate to save the family, orders Cassian to apologize to Kaiser and implies he must accept Kaiser's earlier indecent proposal. Trapped and forced to obey, Cassian is sent to Kaiser's estate, while a mysterious gift arrives for the lord containing a person.
