When Ray proposes, Quincy agrees but admits she still loves Harry. She reveals she accepted the engagement to protect Harry: Ray’s mother founded Shaw Group and Ray used shares to block Harry’s mother, leaving Harry illegitimate and unacceptable to Quincy’s father. To avoid drawing fire on Harry, Quincy decides to string Ray along. Others warn Shaw Group has cash problems and shareholders may oust Ray, which could make Harry the legitimate second son and heir. Then someone says, "Soon, I'll become Hannah's husband and have nothing to do with you," leaving Quincy’s plan precarious.
