At a celebration where Rhea is congratulated for becoming an S-rank Advanced Beast Master, Mr. Jones admits he's stalled at Citybreaker and needs a Dark-type essence to reach Nationbreaker. An ally reveals her ex-boyfriend's beast is Shadowcat, a Dark-type F-rank. Jones realizes killing Shadowcat would yield the rare essence but would also leave its master dead or disabled. The ally and Rhea agree to sacrifice the ex for the alliance while Jones promises to fund Rhea’s training. They decide to act immediately, leaving the ex-boyfriend's fate unresolved as they move to take Shadowcat.
