At a tense family meeting the Fords confront Gabriel over his closeness to Demi Brown (Zoe's adopted sister) and accusations he defended a pregnant mistress, harming the family's reputation. Uncle Edward reveals he ordered an investigation, exposed Demi's schemes and recovered the dead woman's notebook, turning opinion against Gabriel. Zoe accuses him of spending nights with Demi and blames him for her childlessness. Edward reaffirms the marriage alliance with the Browns as Dad's rule and tells Gabriel to leave the Fords if he disagrees.
