Reborn to the day Leila first arrived at the hospital, the narrator vows to stop Leila, a doctor who transfers patients' surgical pain onto them. The director urgently needs Rh-negative blood for a child's bone marrow biopsy, so Ivy — Rh-negative — is asked to donate. Ivy suspects Leila is using a trick to make her the blood source and refuses, claiming a cold and antibiotics: "I can't give you my blood." Leila accuses her of shirking duty while colleagues defend Ivy. Ivy points out Leila is Rh-negative too; Leila refuses to donate, leaving the child's donation unresolved and the narrator's plan stalled.
