Captured in Aurum after hitting someone, Asher is dragged before a gang that demands ransom from his sister and orders his legs broken. Asher refuses to beg and taunts them, 'Go ahead, kill me; if I die, you get nothing,' forcing the gang to consider execution. Tension spikes when a person at the scene says they stayed by Asher for two years to profit from his sister's overseas business and warns that his death would ruin them and bring Jeremy's wrath.
