At a company meeting Elsie's marketing plan is shredded and someone is abruptly fired, pushing her back into family conflict. At home she argues with her father and refuses an arranged marriage to Carey. Grandpa orders her to start at the Scott Group and spend time with Carey. When she resists, Grandpa stages a dramatic collapse and she reluctantly agrees to go. He then reveals he used connections to save the Scott company and made Carey a business king; Elsie begs, "Please let me go home," leaving the engagement and her new posting unresolved.
